Maren's cake, explained

Ok, so I must explain Maren's cake. First of all, its a tradition in my family that the first birthday cake be a head of a boy or a girl. I had the same cake on my first birthday and so did my siblings and my other children. Second, the back of the cake was not finished. Let me tell you why. It didn't come out of the bowl very well and the top part sort of ripped off and I was about the throw it all out and not have a cake for Maren. I calmed down and put the pieces back and and frosted what I could to keep it together but didn't have enough frosting to do the back. Maren won't care! So thats why you see the torn up back of the cake in the pictures and video. Maren didn't notice and it still tasted great. Go me......

Maija's new 'do'

Maija had been asking for quite a while to get her hair cut short again. Like to her chin short. I thought we had decided to grow it long again? We grew out the bangs a long time ago and were growing the rest out to be down to her butt. I guess she was ready for a change!

Christmas Fun!

We had a great time hanging out with Adam's parents all Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Maren was quite out of sorts but we all survived. The kids got some great stuff and were very pleased. Maren is the first one of the kids who actually wanted to play with the toys instead of the paper and boxes.
